ABOUT

Here at SAPREC Seabird and Penguin Rehabilitation Centre, we are driven by a single goal; to help our seabirds. We help all seabirds that are brought into the centre, rehabilitate them and then release them. Birds include the endangered African Penguin, endangered Cape Gannet, Cape Cormorant and Petrels.

ADMINISTRATION OF HELP

Once the seabird arrives at the centre it is established if it needs to go to the vet. Thereafter depending on the diagnosis the administration of medicine and electrolytes is given.

REHABILITATION

Once the seabird is stabilised the rehabilitation process consists of daily activities. Regular monitoring of each bird. Feeding twice a day. Fitness and waterproofing assesments and sociability

RELEASE

Once the penguins have met all the necessary milestones for release and have been chipped, they are released at a nearby Nature Reserve.
